Baby it's cold outside.

Of course winter has set in and Carter is going crazy. He is active all day long. Running here and there and to top it off our house isn't that big. So need less to say he is running out of room fast. And it's been cold outside so we have been stuck inside. And by cold i mean -20 with the wind chill. But days that its nicer we do enjoy some time out in the snow.

Carter cant wait for christmas to get here. We had to tell him the the tree was "hot" so he would leave it alone, and it works. Besides the fact that he pushed the dog into it to test it. But other than that it's still up and the presents are still under it un opened. So i can only wait until next year when we are going to have to hide the gifts so he wont peak.

Yesterday we made a make shift sled out of a jumbo diaper box and i pulled Carter around the living room floor. It was worth the smile and laughs until i got tired out and needed a rest. I guess i need his energy.

Turkey's done!

For thanksgiving this year we decided to stay at home. We got a turkey, way to big for the 3 of us, and made a pie and did all the fun stuff that your grandparents did. It was kind of fun. Carter's dinner consisted of cheese green beans and stuffing... MMM sounds good... oh and lets not for get the pumpkin pie he did love that.
Carter can finally make an animal sound well kind of a cow says mmm... no ooo yet, he has decided to try and tickle feet now not that he really can but we let him think that he does. We have decided to finish our basement so we have some extra room, Ben has been helping, and will be doing most of the work, but Carter now thinks that Ben lives in the basement. We have to take him down stairs and show him that there is no one down there.
Carter has now decided that kissing is a good thing, but he tries a little to hard. Bailey our dog has gotten chased after for a kiss, and Lilo the hamster almost ended up squished just for a kiss.
With the holidays just starting i can only guess what Carter will try and do with the Christmas tree. I'm sure we will be picking up the decorations all over the house.
Well every body's in bed so i should be heading there myself...

There is no way to stop time and keep a child still.

Well time for family pictures and that was a great time. Last year Carter was little enough to be held and not want to run away. NOT this year. Time changes and he was to busy trying to run away and play. We did get some good pictures but man it was a hard time. Most of the picture turned out with him running around.

But that is what children do. You cant plan events, they plan them for you. He didnt want to smile and hold still he was to busy exploring the park.

Carter is trying to carry on a conversation with you now. It is jibberish, but he tries as hard as he can. Now we are going to have to watch what they say. He loves music and dances every morning to Jacks big music show.

Well this morning is going by fast time to get ready for work and Carter ready for daycare.

Little helper

Carter is being a big help around the house. Well the best that he can, he can bring you the remote, sometimes most of the time he takes off with it. But he will bring you his shoe. He's a good help with the dishes, he takes them all out of the cupboards.

We got a swing set about couple of weeks ago and are getting around to putting it together, with the help of Ben and of course Carter.

You might think a swing set this time of year? But you know how much you save when you by them now and it will be ready by next year then. :)

With each passing day he changes so much. Don't blink or you might miss something. The funny part he cant carry on a conversation but he knows what you are saying. Speaking of that we are now going to have to watch what we are saying.

Work has thrown me a loop changing my hours at the last minute causing a little bit of stress. Giving me less time to spend with the family, but it pays the bills and today that all that matters.

I enjoy every minute that I get to spend with Missy and Carter. Now if i can get Carter to do the dished I will have more time on my hands. Speaking of chores Carter goes crazy when he hears the vacuum cleaner, he's not afraid of it he tries to ride it. You might think it's cute but try and clean the floor with him chasing after you trying to jump on the front of it, and the dog trying to bite it.

All the fun to have with a child.

It's that kind of day.

Well its a nice rainy day outside stuck in the house and Missy has to work until 11 pm :( So its me Carter tonight. Carter has been keeping Missy and me busy, lately he's been trying to beat up the dog. Turning on and off the TV. Starting to learn new words uncle Ben is now Ba i guess that kind of close. If you ask where's the car he can point it out but it might be a truck, a car, a 4-wheeler or a bike. A dog is "da" fish is "ishes" clock is "alak". Right now he's busy opening and closing the cd drive and the dog is hiding under the table. His favorite movie is Alvin and the Chipmunks. I have seen that way to many times. He survived a trip up north. Well for the most part got sick on the way up. Well i can see that tonight he is going to keep me on the run. Better catch up with him and see what he is up to now.

First steps are hard to take.

People say they always grow up so fast. Well that is true. Carter is starting this walking thing, he has been for a while but now its getting more and more easy for him. Look out here he comes. He seem so big now, what happened to when he just loved to be held. Now its put me down and let me go. Poor Missy, full time work, school, and full time Mom. Little Monster wants to help mom out with her home work, but just really wants to eat the pen or destroy the paper work or a book or two. Not much can keep him entertained now he wants to be out and about. Looks like we will have to do a little more child proofing of our house. Or at least move things up a little higher. His days have been filled up with fun at grandma and grandpa's houses. While going on walks with Grandma Bruns or playing with the bell at Grandma and Grandpa Reintjes. Of course cant forget about going to Uncle Ben's and Devin's (don't worry next time we send him with the fire truck you guys bought him).

But time does fly by fast cant wait until he can do the dishes :P

Being a parent version 1

Man how i never thought it would be easy but man some days its hard. Thank God for Missy, me being the normal dad always goes for "mom" for answers. The first day they send you home with out and instruction booklet that was crazy. I could never imagine being a signal parent, for those of you that are how do you do it???? I guess the first one is always a learning experience. Carter is now almost a year old so i started this just a little late, but he's all over the place now where before he was just content to lay on the floor. He has already been out of the country (Norway) and i have learned never travel on a plane with an infant. Not fun, he did good but it was hard for me to sit still for 8 hrs. Right now his days are full of crawling, walking (holding on to things) and trying to get the dog. I feel bad for poor Bailey at first she just wanted to lick him and now he's after her no matter where she goes. Like today he jumped on her, thank god she took it good.

There are many things i am thankful for, Clifford the Big Red Dog tends to keep him entertained, Fraggle rock, and Colbie Caillat is only one that can put him a sleep in the car. He just got Hand Foot and Mouth, so he will be out of daycare for a while. Speaking of daycare that's the cost of a car payment. There are a lot of hidden costs with children, but they are all worth it. And Thank God for Missy, speaking of that i can't wait until she gets home from work Carter is going crazy wanting to spend some time with Mommy. Right after he tries to answer the remote. The little monster likes cell phones, i guess fitting because i work for a cell phone company. Books are another good thing, he loves to point out things in them, not sure what he's trying to say just yet but give it some time.
Well it's snack time so we better get out a fig newton or 2 :)
